STACKS

TYPE OF PROJECT: Separate exhibition

LOCATION: GIPP Arkitektur, Stockholm

YEAR: 2025

MATERIAL: Pigmented cast concrete and plaster

SIZE: 6,5×6,5×15 cm and 20x20x45 cm

Three-dimensional work relates instantly to our senses, in how we see, feel and touch. STACKS is a collection of pigmented concrete and plaster cast objects that explore key sculptural and architectural methodological tools: scales and sizes, additions and subtractions. Stacks and blocks, linear take-outs and core voids.

The project refers only to itself and the room it inscribes itself in; how the spatiality of the work relates to our vision and touch and experience. It also asks how a particular chosen size and material can inform the reading of an object: Whether we interpret something as a 1:1 object in itself or as an architectural representation on scale 1:10 can be discussed.

The curatorial vision  was to dissolve the boundaries between space, interior and art. The room was built up in 3D, the stacked podiums designed specifically for this space and for these objects, and built on site. The method of creating some of the sculptural objects was mimicked in the creation of these podiums, that are plastered to melt together with the surrounding walls. This approach merges the existing space with the exhibition structures and the sculptures into a consistent whole.
